Journalism Class Publishes News

Be Sure to Read Hoof Beats
Posted on 12/20/2019
"Hoof Beats" is a collaborative publication made by the Granville High School and Schuylerville High distance learning journalism class. taught by Mr. Marvin. In this course, students study news writing, feature articles, opinion writing, sports reporting, arts reviews, and the basics of broadcast journalism. Additionally, students read current news publications and analyze the writing of professionals in the field. Each year, the class makes a publication for teenagers based on topics chosen by the class. This year, "Hoof Beats" is a feature magazine that includes food writing, opinions about school culture, and profiles of upcoming and current events.

Much of this class is taught online using Google Classroom and most students take the course in grades 11 and 12. In addition to the subject matter, distance learning classes are also a great way to learn about the culture of other high schools in the area. If this journalism class seems interesting to you, be sure to talk to your guidance counselor.

Happy reading,
