Meet Shamira

ShamireShamira (our therapy dog)  is a big hit.  Having animals in an agriculture classroom creates a different hands-on dynamic that can’t be found elsewhere. Not only does it teach responsibility, husbandry, and compassion, but it also allows for a more in-depth science understanding. Utilizing a dog in the classroom gives Mrs. Cahan the opportunity to have more engaged students, who look forward to coming to class. A dog can be a model on a daily basis in the Animal Science curriculum- from domestication (looking at her skull vs a wolf), to grooming, to behavior and training.
