On February 22nd, the Granville Elementary's VEX Robotics teams participated in the Adirondack Classic Robot competition — their first-ever competition! The 4th and 5th grade teams, the Brain Bot Busters and the Robo Rangers, went head-to-head with teams from other local schools, showcasing their hard work and skills in robotics.skills in robotics.
The teams spent weeks building and programming their robots, learning about engineering, coding, and teamwork along the way. For many students, this was their first hands-on experience with robotics, and they were eager to put their knowledge to the test.
Granville parent Meghan Steves, the Robotics Club parent advisor, with co-advisor Mrs. Bishop, a fifth-grade teacher at Granville Elementary, expressed the team’s pride in the students’ efforts. "We are so proud of our kids and so thankful for the local VEX community, who didn’t hesitate to jump in and help our students at the competition to troubleshoot all day," they shared. "We look forward to the next season and building on all the knowledge we gained!”
The day was filled with excitement, problem-solving, and a lot of learning. While the teams didn’t come home with a trophy this time, the experience of competing and working together as a team was a valuable achievement. The students not only gained technical knowledge but also developed essential skills in communication, persistence, and collaboration.
Looking ahead, the team is eager to build on this experience, fine-tune their robots, and return stronger next season. The Club is also excited to rebuild VEX Robotics at Granville CSD - a once very active part of the Jr/Sr High. They are looking forward to future competitions and appreciates the ongoing support from the Granville community.
