The Granville School Board has three open seats for the 2025 elections.
The seats are for three (3) year terms.
📋CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be a citizen of the United States
2. Must be at least 18 years of age
3. Must have been a resident of the district for a continuous period of at least 1 year immediately prior to the election
4. Must be able to read and write.
5. Must be the only member of his or her family residing in the same household on the school board

• Effective Communicator: Can describe what he or she wants and describe what others want; a good listener
• Consensus Builder: Capable of working toward decisions that all can support and willing to compromise to achieve goals
• Community Participant: Enjoys meeting a variety of people, can identify the community’s key communicators and reaches out to the community
• Decision Maker: Is comfortable making decisions and can support group decision-making
• Information Processor: Can organize priorities and schedules to handle large amounts of verbal and written information
• Leader: Willing to take risks, be supportive of board colleagues, district staff and community
• Team Player: Helps promote the board’s vision and goals
❎CANDIDATE RESTRICTIONS:
1. Must not simultaneously hold an incompatible public office, such as town supervisor
2. Must not be an employee of the district
3. Must not have been removed from a school district office within one year of the election.
4. A person convicted of a felony in New York State is ineligible to seek a seat on the Board if the maximum sentence to which he/she could have been sentenced has not expired or if he/she has not been discharged from parole.

April 21 Petition must be filed for central, union free and common school districts
May 20 Budget Vote & Election Day
If you are interested in running for a seat on the Board of Education the petitions are available at the District Office, 58 Quaker Street, Granville, NY Monday - Friday (holidays not included) 8:00am-4:00 pm. (The District Office is on the far left side of the Granville Jr/Sr High School, when facing the school.)
