The Granville Chapter of the National Honor Society held its formal Induction Ceremony on January 26, 2023 in the High School Auditorium. We welcomed 14 students from the Granville Jr/Sr High School into the nation’s oldest, largest, and most prestigious student recognition program, founded in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. The Granville chapter is proud to have been inducting new members since May 16, 1963. Members must be juniors or seniors with a cumulative academic average of 89.5% or higher. Additionally, members must meet the highest standards of service, leadership, and character. Students are selected by a faculty council consisting of five members of the faculty appointed by the principal.

Our chapter has worked graciously to brighten the holidays for local families purchasing toys for the Operation Santa program. Each senior member is required to organize a leadership project. Some past leadership projects have included organizing a senior service day, starting a student mentoring program, making cards, gifts, and care packages for heath care and essential workers, sponsoring athletic clinics for younger athletes of the Granville Community, making handmade blankets that were donated to the Glens Falls Hospital, among countless other hours of service to local organizations and causes. Additionally students are required to complete a minimum of 20 individual community service hours each year of membership.
