πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸŽ‰ Big congratulations to Granville CSD Senior Conner Gregorio who made the decision to enter the workforce at the WSWHE Career and Technical Education Signing Day on Wednesday! Similar to special events for high school athletes signing commitment letters to colleges where they will play sports, or high school seniors donning collegiate shirts from the colleges where they have been accepted on designated college acceptance days, the WSWHE BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) program recognized those students in its programs who will go directly into the workforce by holding a CTE Signing Day on June 5 at the WSWHE BOCES Conference Center. Families and members of the school community watched the students, who have successfully secured the first step to their future by committing to employment, sign letters of intent. These students have chosen to maximize their high school experience with career training and industry recognized certifications. John Ehntholt, shop manager at Rozell Industries who spoke at the event, told families and students, with 3 million job vacancies in the trades expected in the US by 2028, students should take pride in their work. He told them that they are professionals just like lawyers and teachers. Congratulations to Conner & all of the students!

On June 3rd, the Drama Club had the opportunity to meet with Ken MacLeod and Kim Kachougian, two of the set designers and carpenters for the prerecorded sketches on Saturday Night Live! In this session, our guests talked about the process for designing sets for the show and shared design boards for sketches that they have worked on. Our students also got to see behind the scene pictures of the sets being built on the stage and hear stories about designing specific sets in the short 48 hour period they have to build and shoot on them. They also got to ask Ken and Kim questions related to set design and the film industry in general.

Students in our SUNY Plattsburgh Model OAS class earn college credit by working in teams to present a public policy/international relations solution that will help all OAS Member States. Students prepare their presentations throughout the spring semester and then present, debate, and vote on their ideas during three days of meetings on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus. This year all Granville student presentations were successfully approved by students from regional schools participating in the Model OAS program.
